Please read the following information carefully. Prior to signing your child up for our program - it is imperative to know how we operate! The following will ensure that we might concentrate our efforts on adding value to the educational experience of your child:
1. The Chess Tutors and Educators plus program has reached about 100 schools within 15 school districts and our success is widely due to our staff and our parents understanding and adhering to the policies below. Our instructors are professional supplemental educators whom are screened, trained and contracted by our company to provide the highest educational experience for our youth.
Refund Policy (Very Important; Please Read):
Please review your family schedule thoroughly prior to registering for our program because we contract our educators based on the amount of students whom sign up. Therefore, we are prohibited from offering refunds for any reason. In the event that you are unable to attend for whatever reason we will gladly grant you a voucher that will never expire in order that we might keep our integrity with our staff and that you might make use of your registration investment at a later date..
2. Your son/daughter must be picked up promptly at the end of the After School Program. Students must be picked up within 5/10 minutes of program dismissal otherwise students 3rd grade and above will be released to the playground and students 2nd grade or below will be walked to the school office. In any case we will contact the parents of the child to inform them prior to releasing them.
3.
Regular attendance is important. Students only attend the After School Program when they attend school. Students are expected to actively participate and stay for the entire program each day. Students who have three (3) unexcused absences may be dropped from the program. Children may have an excused absence for medical appointments. You are required to provide a signed note when your son/daughter is absent from our After School Program. Children will need to bring a medical note if they miss 3 or more days from our After School Program. Furthermore, it is the parents responsiblity to contact us in the event their child is unable to attend. We take our time with your children very serious and our instructors are held accountable for the progress your child makes during their time with them so we need them present each week and we need you to take responsibility for informing us when they are unable to make it.
4. Safety is a top priority in all of our Chess Tutors and Educators plus After School Programs; therefore, we take it upon ourselves to insure that all Kindergarteners are picked up from their classrooms and are brought to the same program location each and every week of each and every session; this way all students become familiar with our routine. As for all the other grade levels they are expected to meet in the disignated area following school dismissal on the appointed day(s). Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that all parents read our flyer thoroughly and understand it that they might in-turn direct their child to the correct location by which we will be sure to meet each and every session. It is the parents and child's responsibility to make it to class each day.
5.
Multiple late pick-ups may result in your son/daughter being dropped from our After School Program. Although we don't charge late fees for a child remaining on campus after our program dismissal - should we find ourselves in the unfortunate situation where a guardian for a child is unreachable and if the office is closed and if the playground is empty and it is after 7pm - please know that your child will be considered “abandoned” and will come under the supervision of the local Sheriff’s Department. Furthermore, your child will be dropped from our after school program and no refund will be granted.
6.
Participation in our Chess Tutors and Educators Plus Program is a privilege. It is extremely important to have clearly defined discipline procedures to guarantee a safe and positive environment for all participants. The following steps will be taken for behavioral offenses:
Minor Offenses (teasing, minor argument, etc.) First time – warning by staff letter of apology, and loss of privilege (10 min.). Second time – behavior notice, counseling with staff, conversation with parents, letter of apology loss of privilege (30 min). Third time – behavior notice, counseling with staff, conversation with parents and possible suspension from program.
Major Offenses (physical abuse such as fighting or hitting other students or staff) all major offenses will be dealt on a case by case basis. Disciplinary actions may range from temporary suspension to dismissal from the program.

Students may only participate in our After School Program at the school they attend.
